You could buy a Ford or Chevy but why not a BEAMER ( Gold Wing)
Already have the BMWs covered, have a R1150GS and F650GS. Looking for a little ying to my yang.
I have owned three Harley Davidson bikes and my current ride is a Road Glide Custom. After riding the Indian version of a Street Glide I would give the nod to the Indian (I owned a Street Glide at one time).
Everyone has a Harley. (‘cept me)
Go for the Indian (before the name has to be changed)
CRC…. did you see there is a new Indian dealership opening in Racine this summer? Owners of the Ford / Mitsubishi dealerships opening it downtown.
I think with Polaris behind Indian, the bikes will be a real option, and a cool “different” spin to the Harleys…. and this comes from a “love my Road King” guy.

Neither. Buy a bike From Signature Cycles in Eleva, Wi. I work with the owners wife. They have some sic looking bikes!

Thanks Chuck, that is great to hear. One of the only downsides to the Indian was the closest dealer being 100 miles away. I hope they open sooner rather than later. I demo rode both Harleys and Indians in Sturgis last year, and while both are nice, there was something about the Indian. And I have owned a few harleys…one still might be sitting in my garage.
Indian’s are gorgeous bikes. I love the brown leather verse the black.

HARLEY DAVIDSON ALL THE WAY, unless….. you found an OLD Indian bike
Harleys seem to hold their value very well. Indian has changed hands a few times. I’m sure they are a good bike though.
In my estimation the 1969 Royal Enfield Interceptor is the sexist bike in the world.
Retained value, and resale value…sometime have no correlation to each other. I’ve had older Harleys that have done a good job at retaining resale value while not being the most roadworthy without significant rework vs BMWs that while having very little resale have excellent mechanics that I would have no issue taking cross country. In this particular purchase I am looking for pure experience, quality of ride, new bike dependability, and a certain hard to define feel. My ambition is to do a Sturgis ride with an extensive loop through Montana and Idaho…those on the road pictures the IDO crew took while in Idaho just scream to me ” experience me from the saddle of an iconic American motorcycle” . Anything after that is just that, I’ll give it some thought then.

Hey buz, how about a 1958 British Ariel Cyclone 650 Twin?
Of my God, who in their right mind wouldn’t fall in love with that bike. But then there are Velocette’s to consider

This is correct. Everyone with good taste would agree, that the Royal Enfield is a scant .79% sexier than the next sexiest bike, the Norton Commando, and barely besting the #3 sexiest bike, the Triumph Bonneville by 1.2%.
Grouse
X2 on the Norton Commando. My very first ride was a ’69 Norton Commando w/ the Combat engine. Awesome power and unique sound. After many miles and many bikes now (as my name infers) ride a ’05 Goldwing w/ 65K on it
