Happy Friday the 13th! Here are some fun facts:

Experts say that friggatriskaidekaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th) affects millions of people and estimate that businesses, especially airlines, suffer from severe losses on Friday the 13th.

Triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13) is even more widespread. So much so that many high-rise buildings, hotels, and hospitals skip the 13th floor and many airports do not have gates numbered 13. In many parts of the world, having 13 people at the dinner table is considered bad luck.

A bit of bad news for all of you who suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia – all years will have at least one Friday the 13th. The good news is that there cannot be more than three Friday the 13ths in any given calendar year. The longest one can go without seeing a Friday the 13th is 14 months.

Anyone here willing to admit they are leery of Friday the 13th? I have no problems with the date nor the number 13 BUT I do know several people who prefer even numbers. They can’t really say why, they just don’t like odd numbers. I prefer odd numbers. It would be interesting to learn what odd/even number preferences say about your personality.

I also heard on the radio this morning that during WWII the British got pounded with some bombing raids on a Friday the 13th and that has also contributed to the fear/phobia.

Billy and I enjoyed a fun tradition each Friday the 13th in the fall. We would watch one of the Friday the 13th movies! And you can bet we own them all (except for one) – We even include “Freddy Vs. Jason”, which was a super fun mash-up, and of course the classic “Jason X” which has a more sci-fi feel to it rather than slasher film. I’m not sure which one I’ll watch tonight. Maybe I’ll shuffle them and see which one I grab.

Technically speaking, I don’t own the remake from 2009, which is the most recent in the franchise. I remember seeing it and it was okay… I just didn’t think it has the pizzaz of any of the other movies.

One of my favorite days. When in the office I bring bagels and cream cheese for my team every Friday the 13th.

Growing up had 13 for my number in baseball and hockey. They wouldn’t give an offensive lineman #13

There we go with the Crocs thing…..
I have no fear of Friday the 13th or the #13. But I do have a couple quirks.
My brother and I started a #s superstition that still sticks. Microwaves and alarm clocks have to end with an odd #, but no 5s. I still do it. 30 years later!

When I eat candies, like M&M’s, skittles, jelly beans…. I eat them in even #s, of the same colors.

Out of habit, I always put socks, underwear, pants, and shoes on right foot first. I don’t wanna go left first, cause, well that would be weird.

I only like even numbers – been like that for years. My wife thinks something is wrong me and she’s probably right (for a multitude of reasons).

I can only have the volume on the TV or radio at an even number. Same with things like the thermostat. I also face out all the cans in the pantry and can only use one specific type of hanger for my clothes. And the clothes all sort in a certain manner when they hang.

Sure wish I was a little more OCD about organizing crankbaits…..

Sharon im sure youve seen this but if not look up the Slashstreet Boys “Ill kill you that way” Got all the good guys in it. I just had to watch it right now i think its great.

Friday the 13th’s are the only lucky day of the year I have!

Not so for the FW though.

It was ten years ago today she wanted to put the hook on the boat while I was loading it. She stepped on some duck weed on the ramp and went down so hard I thought she broke something. Turned out the ramp was ok, but she had a bruise on her rump that looked like a full size painting of Mother Theresa.

This morning she said she still has a bump there.
