Hanging Up The Guide Hat

    Man does time fly.

Made the decision to take the BrianK’s Trophy Cat Fish and Sturgeon Adventures sign down after the 2016 season.

What an experience! From knitting in the boat to breaking a rod on a 50+ pound fish. I’ve truly had the time of my life!

From catching my largest walleye, sturgeon, flathead and channel cat to learning about the small section of the Mississippi River that I call my home waters, I owe it all to the great people of In-Depth Outdoors. I’ve been learning about fish, fishing and Mother Nature ever since I signed on to Ido and went out fishing with Mr casting accuracy Mike “watch this” Westman. Mike showed me that a turtle could be hooked on the first cast.

Not to worry, I’ll still be fishing, posting and pot stirring as always. Might even do a couple trips each year to keep my guide boat stories fresh.

I’ve made a few people mad over the years, but I believe I’ve made many many more friends and for that I have to say Thank You James and the People Of In-Depth Outdoors!

I’m not buying it! Typical Rock-N-Roll band trick. Say it’s the last tour to fill the stadium, then have a reunion tour the next year….. devil

I wish you the best Brian. Guiding looks like hard work to me, cripes we can’t even please everybody posting on a web site, I don’t know how you can make clients happy everyday.

I’ve got like 33 of your guide trip gift certificates laying around here, how do I redeem those? grin

Best wishes to you, and I hope it all works out like you dream it will. There’s nothing I like better than a pot stirrer who stands up for what he believes and has an ounce of smarts to back it up…..

All the WI greats retire, then come back, then retire again.

This is all a setup to really come over to the dark side, that being the MN side toast

BK, we might have to hook up for some trophy Mississippi bluegill fishing this late summer on the lower pepin wing dams. I want in on the farewell tour rather than waiting for the reunion tour. I love you man!

Guides never retire, they just take people out who enjoy fishing, without the added pressure to produce, fishin is just that, fishing, enjoy !

Brian, that can not be an easy decision ! I hope you share all that you can (I know you do) with many of those coming up through the ranks of the fishing world to teach them and ‘guide’ them (no pun intended) with the tips and tricks of fishing, especially the river…..

    LOL You guys are great!

You know what they say, the guys that can’t guide become teachers.

(Dear teachers, that’s a joke. Please laugh)

I guess when you have been around UGLY Whiskered things in the dark in the baitshop and on the water for so long it catches up to you mentally. The nightmares have got to be horrendous how can you possibly even sleep or maybe you don`t.

Hey Brian – Does that mean you will finally have some time to join me on the Battleship and chase some flats? I’ll guide you on the St Croix this summer.

    Steve

Now that would be an event unequaled in time. The upper St.Croix joins the Mississippi.

Now BK as a spokesfisherman for spam will their be a another flavor maybe called scam/sfam sorry that just does not fit, how bout swam or super swam. I know you have pull in naming rights.

May you continue to prosper Brian. Your amungst the good ones that do more than just guide for the river you visit.

The most fun I have had fishing in the dark was with BK. I enjoyed every moment…except the zipper deal. I even enjoyed pushing the boat off the sand bar that one night. And you tricking me into catching my biggest walleye.

    Count on it Steve!

That is the one thing I’ve missed after I started guiding. Fishing with “the guys”.

And for the rest of you yahoo’s, I’ll have more time to harass you on line and in person. )
