I’m glad there are others that don’t care for Glocks! I was beginning to think I was the only one.

Seriously, if you don’t have a .22 pistol, get one. They’re a riot and cheap to shoot. Bonus is that it will be easy for your wife to shoot. I like bigger guns, too, but I shoot my .22s more than anything. They still go bang, but they’re much easier on the shooter.

and it’s much like the Ruger LCP. It does not have a safety, which I don’t like, because when we carry, ‘what good it is to not have a round in the chamber?’

Why wouldn’t you carry with a round in the chamber? Those guns have safeties, just not external thumb safeties.

To the OP – if you want a .380, get something along the lines of the M&P EZ or the similar sized walther. Browning makes a scaled down 1911 in .380 as well.

Any M&P gets my vote. They fit so nice in the hand and shoot just as well as they feel. I have a full-size 9mm M&P and love it and so does my wife.

X2 on the XDM. Get a bigger gun, size not caliber. Work on her grip. Don’t be afraid to have her off hand pointer finger on the trigger guard. (a no no for competitive shooters due to regulations but very common elsewhere. It really helps with muzzle rise and control) Move all of the grip on her off hand forward and higher. You may be surprised how close to the slide you can get. The more meat you get higher and forward the more control. My daughter is 5 foot 1 and has no problems shooting my 45 ACP XDM. She likes it better than the 9mm.

This is assuming the shooter has the proper grip. No tea cupping

Rent rent rent. Try before buy. etc
