Pretty chill way to pick up those nice eyes! Nobody got cast’initus in their shoulders!
April 19, 2021 at 11:26 am #2030659It was GREAT sharing the boat with you guys !!
I’ve been “Pulling Wire” for quite some time now… My early learning came from Tim “Hutch” Hutchison some 20+ years ago… He has been a real influence in the way I look at fishing the river… Selective harvest and valuing the resource are two keys to sustaining our resource for the future of generations to come !!!There were a lot of things we could have covered in this episode but it’s hard to cram a lot of details into a 30 minute show…
Weight/Flow/Depth
Leads, size of clips, split rings and storage
Lead placement on the shank
Crankbaits and their dive curve
Stock colors and Custom Colors
Where and when handlining works well and whyThanks again IDO Crew…
The Tug is My Drug !!!

How about a prop guard on the kicker motor? I’m guessing you probably have one? Keeps those fish running behind the boat from getting cable caught up in the kicker prop.
There is definitely a time and place to have this presentation in the back pocket!

MikeVPosts: 104April 19, 2021 at 5:11 pm #2030796I started hand lining last year and really enjoy it. I find its my go to presentation now as it always produces where and when I fish. Especially winter through spring down here on the Illinois River.
I’m very new at this technique but with advice from Dave Koonce and a few other local guys, I’m getting better at it each time I go out.
April 20, 2021 at 10:46 am #2030993Good show, looks like fun. BUT, please don’t let the music (?) drown out the hosts. It was very hard to understand in a few places, especially at first.
April 21, 2021 at 8:15 am #2031343Why do u use your hand instead of a pole? Genuine question
Some do use a small stiff pole aka polelining, it is more effort than using your hand IMO. Your talking about using 20 to 32+ ounces of weight.
Reel options are basically two, kachman or A&S. I have the kachman.
April 21, 2021 at 2:53 pm #2031550I have never pole lined b4 so I do not have anything to compare to vs handlining… I have been using the Katchman Riviera reels since day one…never ever had a problem so again, I have nothing to compare to.
