Packers and Vikings each with a very deserving induction this year.

Sterling Sharpe was an absolute force before his injury and for his 7 year career his numbers stack up with the greats. Record setter in that era and my favorite player of all time to be honest. No nonsense, brute strength, caught everything and didn’t go down easy. Got his autograph at training camp one year which was a feat — had to sprint alongside him through the parking lot. He had a rep for not being the friendliest guy but the dude was just 100% business and I respect that.

Jared Allen… pains me to say it but the dude was a monster and I watched that stupid rodeo sack celebration more times than I’d like to remember. Would’ve loved to have had him on my favorite team. You worried about him pretty much every play.

Jared Allen was a machine on one of the best franchises in the NFL.

actually he was a trouble maker in KC… he had to come to Minnesota to release his inner beast on the field.

Sterling very deserving as well… like Shannon said in his Hall induction speech… he is being inducted into the Hall and isn’t even the best player in his family. cool

What records? He was at his peak when I was still little and I remember him being good, but such a short career seems like it was going to be the limiting factor. He led the league in catches 4x, yards once and TD’s once. His numbers are comparable to Rice’s and Carter’s and Irvin’s (his contemporaries), but those guys all played significantly longer. Not saying he didn’t deserve HOF status, just that longevity typically matters in these convos.

Jared Allen was a no brainer, and should have happened a long time ago. He is top 15 sacks all-time and was a beast against the run too.

As I said “record setter in his era.” In 92 he broke the record for receptions in a season with 108, and then proceeded to break his own record with 112 in 93.

Yes longevity matters, which is why Sharpe had to wait this long and goes in as a “senior” inductee.
