my hunting land was logged about 10 yrs ago and the road they built had become a nice luxury for transportation and deer travel. over time and especially this spring it has washed out beyond use now. our neighbor is going to fix it up for us but what would be some good options for seeding it down to help with erosion. its a fairly long and steep hill and faces the north so its mostly shaded. not much access to farming equip. so most to be done by hand.

You will probably benefit the most by going to your local seed house. Often times they have a mix of grasses for a specific region and uses. For your case I am sure they can steer you into a erosion control seed that will germinate in your area. If it is really steep and sandy, maybe you should consider some geotextiles and some stone/rock. Sorry for really being of no help.

I would consider a good white clover. they require much less sunlight than other clovers, most loggers seed with white clover when they finish a job.
