Well, I’m burnt and about done with plots for a while. You know your baking in the sun when you start calculating how many hours you spent so far this year making sure our wildlife is tended to. As for me…..I quit counting at a A LOT
A few shots of the year so far:
1. I didn’t use oust around my tree planting this year. Huge benefit for fawns. Many fawns hiding in the tall grass amongst the flowers.
2. Had a lot of damage from the deer this year eating the new growth. But with all the rain this spring and now hot weather, these swamp oaks are growing fast.
3/4. Corn is up. “Knee high by the 4th of July” Well on track for that!
5. Alfalfa was ripe, so bailing time…. I’ll no-til oats in late Aug in this field.
6. 90 day corn to be picked and brodcasted before deer season on the east side next to a bedding area.
7. Clover in all my lanes is now dense growing well. Bees are also happy with it.
8/10. 3 acre plot at the end of my field next to another bedding area. Tilled over all the spring feed and prepping for the early July planting. 340′ x 30′ planted soybeans and sunflowers today Round-up next week and plant the following week. Then done until sept….
11. One of my towers for the kids and my Dad
