This is the new plot I just put in last weekend. It’s planted in beans and has woods with lots of oaks on the left side and sumac for great bedding on the right. The plot is only about 15-20 yards wide but about 200 yards long.

Seriously, that is your soil for a “new” plot? I hate you….

It looks like a field full of potting soil! NICE!

Fresh Button weeds and Burdocks in the making….

Nice looking field for sure, I can already make out my stand location now.

Looks OUTSTANDING!!! I didn’t ever think about soil before when it comes to hunting property but after looking at Kooty’s posts about picking rocks, It’s another part of the equation to think about. I’m not saying that I wouldn’t buy a pc of property that has a ton of rocks but it definitely would be something to consider.

It’s going to be awful crowded if we add another stand

I’ll try to capture a picture next spring showing just how many rocks we have. My new harrow pops them out like mad. The good thing they are on top then. We’ve got a 3 point “rake” system I’m planning to use next spring to drag most of them to 1 area. Hopefully this will save touching the rocks 2-3 times.

Round rocks, sharp rocks, grey rocks, big rocks, flat rocks, boulder rocks, broken rocks, hot rocks, more rocks. In my best bubbagump voice. “I know just about everything there is to know about rocks.”

    …unfortunately

I’ve been hearing that from the farmers in the area too. With all the rain, they are finding there way to the top pretty easy. My kids gonna get a first hand account on picking rock this year in the bean field. Way better than any computer game he could play.
