    We collect our rain water in a 550 gallon tank outside the pole barn. Great source of good water. Only problem is that we get that red mold around the inside of the tank. We don’t want to use Bromine, cause we figure the deer won’t like the clorine. What do others use for this situation?

    It sounds like algae to me, not mould.

    I would favor a MILD dose of chlorine. I’m not talking about swimming pool levels, here. I know deer will drink city water which has chlorine, so I can’t see this causing a huge problem.

    I’ve watched deer drink from the scummiest cattle tanks you can imagine. I’m not sure I’d do anything with the water.
