    Nice fish John.
I caught a couple nice LM’s early saturday on the zara spook. As the sun came up and the fog burned off that bite died for me as well.
Caught a few on swim jigs near green weeds.
A couple also on a spot on rock.
I really wanted to pull out the pointers with that wind blowing but the pike seemed to be pretty active and I wasn’t brave enough.

Nice smallie. My nephew landed one on Pepin last evening that had to be pushing the 5 lb mark was 21.75″. I wish had a pic cause this was one thick fish, biggest one i’ve ever seen out of pool 4, or anywere for that matter. His hit a mimic minnow.

    Hey guys,

Thinking of planting radishes next year and wanted to get your thoughts on this type of forage.

I plan on breaking new ground this spring and increasing the size of my plot to about an acre, which would about double it in size. Radishes initially caught my eye due to the tonnage they produce as well as their ability to work in less than ideal soil conditions.

Has anyone has success with radishes as a late fall forage in Northern MN/WI and is it best to pair with another type of forage such as a turnip or rape seed?

Two of the farms that I hunt in southern WI planted numerous acres of radishes as a cover crop to both help with recycling soil nutriets as well as breaking up the soil. I was suprised when the deer did not spend much time in the endless acres of radishes during the fall. I believe that perhaps they may need to freeze to be more palatable as deer are eating them now that snow cover is on the ground.

I have had the opposite experience with radishes. The deer here in southern Minnesota absolutely pound the tillage radishes I have been planting the last few years. Typically 3/4 of the green forage on my radishes are eaten by the end of September. The deer also come back and eat the radishes themselves later in the season and dig the bulbs up after the ground freezes and it snows. I have planted mine in mixes of radishes and purple top turnips as well as radish turnip chicory mixes. I like to keep them with just the turnips now as the rapid growth of these two can tend to over take the chicory (which is also a phenomenal seed to plant here). Overall my radish/turnip plots are amongst my best plots every year. I have some older posts on these plots I can dig up when I get to a computer if u would like. Hope this helps

I also planted daikon radishes in a mix. the deer in northern mn never let them get more than 3″ tall the same mix in southern mn never got hit until november. I would say go ahead and give thema try. just don’t plant them to thick.
