Truck indicated 96 degrees when we finished the kill plots today. Pat came up and tilled up a couple areas for me and I was able to get both plots planted with some brassicas and turnips. Now bring on the rain. Hopefully with all the hard work this past spring and all the sweat today, we will be rewarded with a nice buck or two this fall. Here are a few pics of the finished plots along with some pics of the beans and corn. Very pleased with the results of the beans and corn. Those plots were topped dressed with urea this past Friday. Should be finished messing around with plots for a while and now can sit back and watch ’em grow. Just need to hang a few more stands as the plots got much bigger than I first anticipated. Looking forward to this fall!
Thanks Pat, Mike and Dannir for all your hard work and thanks Bob for all your great advice this year. It sure paid off!
The deer continue the hammer the mineral site as you can see. This spot started out to be about 3′ X 3′ this past spring. Started using a new mineral in April and it is now larger than the hood on my truck!
Here are a couple pics from a stand I have sitting on the edge of my bean and corn field. I have clover and brassica planted around the edges of the field too! Can’t wait for the opener!
Last pic is one of many stands I have on the edge of the field and kill plots so I can play the wind. All are buried in pines like this one.
