    OOps.

    No stream, just a woodline/fenceline.

I cannot tell by the 1st picture, but it looks like ther may be a stream behind there in the treeline. Just make sure if it is a stream, water running or not, you make sure that it is ok from the DNR.

I have a stream on my Da’d property that is dry 99% of the year and mostly only runs in the spring or when there is heavy rain fall. We talked to the DNR about building a pond, but they call the stream a navigable waterway and would not let us build a pond where we wanted to.

Sorry, managed to delete the post.

No stream, the hillsides bank up pretty good around the treeline, and top off on a farm field above. There is a runoff ditch a ways further down the valley off of my property, (which maybe could be considered a navigable waterway?) but I had already checked into the permit regs and we are WELL over the required 500 feet from the ditch. I’ve also talked to the pond guy (again, he is very knowledgable and does many ponds each year) and he knew exactly which properties need permits… And assured me that mine isn’t one of them.

    Thanks for the heads up.

How cool would it be to have a place to bring the kids out to fish anytime you wanted. I say go for it if you can!!

That’s what I was thinking. Being able to walk out the back door and go fishing was always a dream of mine as a kid. If I can make that a reality for my boys, even better. It won’t be a big pond, but hopefully big enough for a few gils and bass.

Fantastic idea! My grandparents have some farm land west of the cities and they put a pond in many years ago. I learned how to fish out there and still make a few trips up each year to catch some bass, sunnies, and crappies. I absolutely love it and have many great memories from my time spent on the pond.

I want to put a “pond” in at my dad’s farm. However, right now I simply can’t swing the costs. The catepillar work alone is going to be $10k+. It’s on my wish list though.

    I’m quite jealous!!

Here was the photos that I managed to delete from my first post.

The pond location and the “fort” that will be overlooking the pond/food plot area.
