Assuming that your ph is ok these are some fertilizer and seeding rates that have worked well for me. 1st the seeding rates. in pounds per acre. planted alone
    1 corn 15-20# per acre
    2 soybeans 50# per acre
    3. ladino clover 3-5 # per acre
    4. Alfalfa 15-20# per acre
    5. oats 50# per acre
    6. winter wheat 50-75# per acre
    7. winter Rye 75# per acre
    8. turnips, rape, all Brassica blends 3-4# per acre
These are just guidelines that I use and they have worked well. remember to much is not better in most cases.
1 acre is about 44,000 square feet. I just use my range finder and a calculator to figure plot size.
Fertilizer rates. These are rates that will give you an acceptable yield. a soil test would be a more accurate way to determine what you need but like I said this will give you a good idea of what is needed.

    1. corn 150# of 9-23-30 at seeding then 150 #46-0-0 when the corn reaches about 12″ tall
    2. Soybeans 9-23-30 200# at seeding
    3. oats,winter wheat,winter rye, 20-10-10 200# at seeding
    4. turnips, all brassicas. 19-19-19 150# at seed and an optional 100# of 46-0-0 when it reaches 6-8″ only when rain is eminent.
    5. clover and alfalfa 9-23-30 150# in spring and 150# in fall.
I know this is kind of boring But I hope it will help

Great info Bob! Especially on the fertilizers. You just saved alot of members alot of time this spring

Another good way to figure an acre on the fly is that its pretty darn close to a football field with out the endzones, but maybe thats just me.
