I know Ma Nature will play a major role in when you can and can’t plant, but I was wondering what are your typical time frames for starting your plots and which seeds go in when?

We are going to plant some forage beans later in the spring, but the rest of our corn/millette will be at the “normal” time of year. We leave the corn and millette for the birds/deer, so the longer the growing season the better. Our goal for the beans is to be green as can be in October.

We are going to get our brassicas, canola, winter wheat and winter rye in about the end of July. This test plot has a hydrant near by, so I can water if needed during the heat of the summer.

    So, what are your plans??

Clover and corn will go in as soon as we can get it in. Beans, oats, turnips, rye and peas will go in between the last week in July and 1st week of August.

See what happens with all this snow, but Im guessing well get started around the end of April / beginning of May. Usually plant our fall plots around the last week of July / first week of August.

Unless something comes up I am planning another running thread of the food plotting endeavors. Good luck to every one planting this year

If you drop your pants, sit on the ground and can stand it, the ground is ready for corn

Using your technique after the past 4 months of ice fishing Id say I missed planting my corn by about 3 months!!
