Well the Pea Plot turned out awesome. Maybe too awesome. I can get deer around it but can’t get them to eat it. I went as far as to mow shooting lanes in it because it was so tall. Here are some pics I think next year it will be beans.

Great idea to mow lanes in it, at a minimum it will funnel them towards the stand. I do not know much about pea plots maybe it will be more of a late season plot?

Had to do the same in my Oats Plot. Really got out of hand…the deer were bedding in it, but not eating it. Yep, next year will be planting beans as well.

I think I planted my peas too late I plantedd 100% winter peas on sept 1st. The deer have not let them get more than 1″ tall I wish I would have planted more and earlier. Like you guys said it’s hard to beat soybeans

I’ve always planted my peas (Midas field peas) in the spring, but I really like the idea of using them for a fall plot. Usually mix them with a small grain as the supporting crop though. Sure looks like your sorghum took off Deer definitely smack the peas, they are a great nutritional source at minimum. Can be pretty tough to beat soybeans all around though.
