Mineral Blocks? One better than another?

Do you guys have a preference for blocks? There are so many of them now. I’ve had good luck with the Antler King version in the past. Any other options that are worth the purchase?

I have not had much luck with the Stockade Deer & Wild game block at Farm & Fleet. I too would be interested in other options.

I don’t do blocks, but rather do a form of granular. Sometimes it similar to the Home Brew Bobss posted, other times I have used Evolved Habitats Black Magic and Vita Rack 26 by Hunter Specialties with great results. Here is a picture of a home brew. This site has not been replenished this year yet and look at the paw prints and bare ground. The stump has been almost been eaten all the way down. This is big woods Northern MN with low deer populations and you can tell it is being hit pretty good. The granular sinks into and absorbed by the soil and they actually start eating the dirt.

I mixed up the Home Brew that Bobbs had posted, and holy man are the deer in there. i have to now figure out how often to “freshen” it up. re-reading this post, i’ll wait 4 weeks and give them all another dousing.

good picts on the trail cameras.

    FYI

I picked up all the ingredients for this at fleet farm for around $35.

This is the first year we started putting out granular minerals. Got a local feed mill mix up a special recipe just for the deer. My buddy has been using it for years and the mineral sights look just like what Rob has pictured. So far so good.

I’ve put F&F deer blocks, mineral blocks, and plain salt blocks side by side (in front of the camera) and the deer really seem to prefer the plain salt. Not sure if that’s a fluke or just something they don’t like about the other blocks I bought.

I also went to the co-op to get some granular salt/mineral, and put a pile into the ground mixed with dirt.. We’ll see what happens I guess…
