Tournaments are starting now and guys are going to be tight lipped including myself. And I don’t think anyone has really been on fish much yet, just getting started late this year. By next weekend we’ll know more.

Yes to all of the above.

You can safely run anywhere in the river now.

A little punctuation (.,? etc) would help answer your questions better but Ill give it a shot…

Water temps were 48-50 however this community spot will be a little warmer than most of the river I suspect. I fished “around” wood I guess, but not exactly in the wood. I fished from 3-530 and had 4 fish , all dinks

Fished 5 today for a little while. Water was cold, warmest I found was 45, with most around 40-41. Tried for smallmouth to begin the day with little success so I switched to largemouth and found a few. This was the biggest around 17.5..with not much of a belly though. As you can see in the picture, I was on a Michelin pattern .

    Nice fish!

That’s a tough pattern to stay on top of.

I got out on 5 Saturday as well. I fished for smallies and only got 4 fish in about 9 hard hours. Size was very good though 3 of the fish were over 3 pounds and the other was probably 2 1/2. I found water temps in my areas between 42 and 45 degrees. With the high water and flow they were relating to more moderate current and jerkbaits fished slowly were the ticket for me.

Matt, I think I saw you putting in on Sat. You have a purple or blue basscat I think??? I was in the red coat with a blue Ranger. Next time, Ill introduce myself.

I spent some time Sunday looking for smallies for a bit, but couldnt get anything. I think I was fishing too fast in too fast of water. As soon as the fog lifted, I was able to get some nice largemouth. One 19 and one 16.5 with a few more 12-14 inchers in the mix. I mostly alternated between a senko and a tube fished slow, painfully slow. I think Ill take up smoking so I have something to do while my tube sits on the bottom. I have some more camera phone pics, Ill try and attach later.

Water is still cold. Warmest I found by 5 p.m. on Sunday was about 47. It sure was nice to get that first sunburn on my nose for the year.

    That doesn’t look like a tube OR a senko…

I knew someone would comment on that. I had about 6 rods on the deck at that point and that one just happened to get in the picture. I assure you that specfic fish came on a tube .

Does anyone know of a website to find the amount of rain that actually did fall and when for certain areas? I went through a bunch of pages that came up when I googled “accumulated rainfall mn” but was unable to find any real info. I just want to take notes and keep track of what my foodplots are getting in order to make better decisions in the future. Thanks for any responses.

If you go onto weather.com and enter in a zip code for the area. Once your weather location appears, there’s a tab for “Yesterday” weather. Click on that and it gives you totals for the previous day and for the entire month.

Also try wunderground.com (weather underground)… I find that site generally more informative than most others…

maybe not as easy, but I feel as accurate as any… http://www.nws.noaa.gov click on the interactive map of your area… then click on the next interactive map of your locale, on the next page on the right hand side will be current conditions and under that is yesterday’s weather… Below that are the current conditions and just above the radar is the 3 day history.
