In this picture there is turnips and rape in the closest of the picture, then winter wheat. and corn in the back plot. all of these were planted by using roundup and discing only. I have found that weed control is much easier when i don’t plow. [image]http://[/image]

Plow as in the thing that completely turns over a foot or so of soil? Were they plots that have been around a while?

I think that plowing turns up so many weed seeds that have been laying dormant under the soil. When you turn them up they come out of dormancy and germinate. And guess what….the Roundup you used before you plowed is long gone and will do nothing to help anymore, which leaves you with a whole new round of weeds to deal with!
For me, it is ideal to turn up the least amount of soil as possible but still have a good seed bed for what I am planting! Just discing will turn up far less weed seeds which will give you a cleaner plot in the end!

You are correct. If I spray round up 2 times about 6 weeks apart all of the roots will be decomposed. this makes it much easier to just disc up enough soil to get good seed to soil contact. very few new weed seeds will be brought to the surface. I will still plow if needed but very seldom.
the pics in my post were done with a disc only.
