Anyone have leads or specific videos/articles they could kindly direct me to in order to dial in my new H-bird. Had a Lowrance Elite Ti2 on the old boat that was dialed in for side imaging and down imaging. I can’t get seem to get this H-bird anywhere close to that, which makes no sense as the technology should be much better and updated. As usual, assuming user error.

The Technological Angler and Humminbird Tutorials on YouTube should have all the info you’ll need.

What makes you think it’s not dialed in? What are you experiencing?

Too be honest there is no black and white settings. You may even have to adjust for different lakes. Each boat/hull is different, is the transducer correctly installed?

Could be the transducer install also, Port side always reads black till you trim the motor up as the signal hits the lower unit when the motor is all the way down. Also settings make a big difference, make sure the right transducer is selected in the settings. Other then that YouTube has way to many videos to watch, good thing is you have all winter to watch them all lol.

I assume the ducer’s are right (MDI/MSI; high speed), installed from a reputable dealer. Looks right.

Could also be I spent more time with the Lowrance and was more familiar as to get it where I wanted it, still need to learn on the H-bird.

I’m not seeing as clearly on the side imaging and down imaging as the old Lowrance unit. Both 12’s.

    What settings have you adjusted?

Speed, contrast and sensitivity? Are you sure the correct transducer is selected like bigcrappie mentioned? Try changing the palette color.

For side imaging I like 455k signal , contrast 10 and sensitivity negative 2 . Scroll speed 8+ and range 80 feet . Have to tweak it day by day usually but will show ya all the fish you need .

Assuming installation was done right, factory settings area a good starting point-setting were determined and tested in the field by fisherman. After you get things figured out make adjustments.
So for me if I find fish and want to vertically jig I might crank up the sensitivity, I know the fish are there, I know the bottom is soft, I turn it up to see my lure and the fish.

I went through all of the G4 Helix series youtube videos done by Jeremy Burris of Slimequest TV for settings. I’ll continue to tinker and try some of the things mentioned here. First thing will be making sure the right transducer is selected.

I only use the unit for maps/navigation, some side imaging while covering ground to find fish, and leave down imaging on while trolling. Otherwise I use the Livescope for jigging and casting.

All good suggestions. Also, check out Steve Chiasson Fishing on YouTube.
He has many videos on using and fine tuning the Humminbird Helix.
