Guys walking on Mille Lacs!

Couple guys walked out of Chapman’s on Mille Lacs this morning. Was watching the web cams. That is an encouraging sign!

This ice is a few days old, probably pretty decent for foot traffic in that bay area. Didn’t check it for myself..needless to say you wouldn’t catch me out there either. Makes me nervous just watching them.

Quite a bit of open water on the main lake. Anyone on the “upwind” side should be aware it could pull away–maybe– with all the play it has. “Downwind” side ( wind in your face when looking out from shore) should be fine if it is thick enough. Lots of “fractures” scattered on and around the main lake sheet of ice today. Lots of one inch thick shards of ice piled up in many places as well.

Swans swimming in all the big patches of open water in Garrison Bay today.

Just went up the west side of the lake saw 3 groups fishing Vineland bay. Open pockets of water all over in garrison bay the small bags may be ok but we need the big lake to lock up low wind and one more single digit night would do it. But you wouldn’t catch me out on the lake yet no thanks.
