I have a random collection of rods, cleaners, oils etc etc accumulated over the years, and would like to consolidate down to something a little simpler and well organized. Do you guys have any kits or setups you’d recommend? I’ll be cleaning a variety of long guns, and potentially some pistols in the future.

I just bought a tool box to better organize the random collection that I’ve got. That went a long ways toward getting the process organized.

Since I have everything from a .17 to shotguns, there’s no solution that will eliminate having multiple cleaning rods. To me that is kind of the limiting factor, if you need a .17 or .20 rod, plus a .22 (and up) rod, plus shotgun cleaning rod… there goes the “simple” because you need brushes and jags for all these rods.

I am eliminating all the rods. Breakthrough has a few awesome kits that are compact and with cable.

They are really slick! I keep one in my muzzleloader bag when I go out west in cases I shoot or need a good cleaning in the field.

I will add some people are fans of the bore snakes and I have seen some break mid way into barrels and it is a very long labor intensive process to get them out if you don’t have any sticking out for leverage.
