Guess the birds

My wife was out doing her morning chores in the animal room this morning when a hawk flew down and landed on the fence. I was able to take a picture of that hawk and her bird inside.
I know the picture isn’t the greatest (i should wash windows more often).
The bird outside is easily reconizeable, but any guesses on the bird inside?
Hint – it is non-native of the US and is a Falcon.

    Millennium falcon?

If it’s still living with EPG then I believe they call that a Millenial Falcon.

Are you a falconer? My wife says I’d be good at falconry. Not sure how she came to that conclusion.

All good guesses with Carnita being the funniest and Black being the closest.
It is a Lanner Falcon from Africa. He is 20 years old, captive bred and is a non-releaseable bird due to a birth defect in his wing.

We are not falconers. and a side note to that – If you live in MN you are required to be a licensed Falconer to own a Native species. If the species is non-native, no problem. Anyone see a problem with that?

Prairie Falcon. The feathered legs and the black slash from the brow down past the front of the eye to the bottom of the head are the give-aways.

I have the bird book right here and no other hawk or falcon has the black slash like this. The pattern on the feathered part of the leg are spot on too for this falcon.

I still say Prairie Falcon. Here’s what you get when lanners falcon is put into a search…..

    Search Results

Lanners falcon isn’t in any of the birding references I have.
