That would be fun and would bring back a lot of good memories grouse hunting with the old man.

    Mille lacs wma.

    Rum river state forest.

Even sherburne and Carlos have hunt able populations.

Find young aspens with edges and dog woods.

Woodcock are one of the funnest birds to hunt for young pointers. They hold rock solid and the cover keeps most young dogs from running to large.

Anyone get out? Sat weather put me in a boat which turned out well. Sunday was cool and I got out for a few hours. Lots of walking at 4 different spots and not one single flush. Took my dog and she worked well. The area around my cabin is never very good but this year looks abysmal. Last year was one of the best around there I remember in 10 years. I wonder if its the lack of snow depth the last couple of winters? Whatever the reason its a bummer. I will be pushing farther north.

I was near Isabella and didn’t see anything on Saturday. Some other guys at the campsite got 9 though so I don’t know what I was doing wrong. Sunday I finally saw a couple but nothing like the previous times I’ve been there. I have usually been there later though. I’ll be back in two weekends to give it another shot.

They probably ran into a brood or two and slayed them. That’s usually how you get a high number when few birds are around. Not that I havent done that in my life but I doubt I would ever again.
I was hunting NW sconny. Spooner area.

I was out this weekend in the Duluth area. I logged about 3 miles total and kicked up 5 birds. Only 2 of them were visible through the thick foliage and I had a shot at 1 of them.
