Here’s a video I made of our prairie grouse trip out west. First time I ever went, really good hunting, really great time spent out there camping just me and Roxy the dog. We saw a pile of birds every day.
Pretty neat! You ever run way west and try sage grouse? Crazy looking bird.
I went fishing down on the SD border this past weekend and was surprised when I was flushing grouse. I expected pheasant but didnt realize that area had so many grouse. Not sure what kind they were maybe sharptail?
I wanna do that!

I haven’t been hunting very long, maybe 5 years. Never tried for sage grouse. This was my first time ever hunting sharptail. I did hunt the MN prairie chicken season when I won a lottery license several years ago.
River rat, SD has prairie chicken as well as sharptail grouse, so not sure what you saw.
The trip was a hoot that’s for sure. We had fun and got a limit every day. Pretty country too. If the weather was cooler I’ve no doubt a limit of doves would have been easy, they were everywhere. But as I only had one dog for the week, we would just scout the afternoon/evenings and save her energy for the mornings.
