I just had my house resided and it involved removing the dish from the side of the house and reinstalling it after the siding was replaced . The dish was installed by Bell . It was grounded by a 40 foot #10 copper wire that ran along the wall . When the siding was replaced the ground was not hooked back up . I can reinstall the ground if needed but would prefer not to if it is not necessary as it would involve putting a bunch of screws into my new siding . Cant get a reasonable opinion as to reattach it or not . The new siding is hardboard with a weather proof coating but I don’t like the idea of putting holes into hardboard. The dish is not above the roof peek so I don’t think it would attract lightning and if it did I doubt a ground would make a difference ? Maybe I am wrong ?
    Thanks for your input

The answer here will be. Why would you still pay for a satellite when you can have 15 different streaming services. Just had my directv dish replaced and when I took down the old dish which apparently was my responsibility it was not grounded and its on the roof.

My neighbor has one of those big satelite dishes. I assume he’s a North Korean spy. But only because any other country would be able to provide better equipment. But seriously when I was a kid and had to put up one of those little dishes every time we switched service, I don’t think I ever grounded them.

Our satellite dish at our lake cabin is mounted out in the yard and doesn’t have any ground wire.

In 2005 our cabin burned down due to a lightning strike. When the fire department and insurance did their investigation they found that our satellite dish was hit and the lightning followed the cable into the cabin and exploded the TV. Every tree that the cable passed had damage from the lightning traveling up them. I wouldn’t have another satellite dish without it being grounded.
