Sold mine after almost taking three rounds by some idiot. I could spit on the deer that’s how close I was to the deer and the guy missed all three shots…then when I jumped out he ran away! Idiot.
Get one with a bunch of orange. Mine had orange on the top corner and small square by each HUB…apparently not enough.
Find one that you can use with a heater, quit a few are not Hester friendly.
Some are quit loud if you run them or wind flaps them so check the material. Make sure shooting windows are a good height with your chair…and buy nice chairs.
If it’s on private land, put it out early do deer can get used to it.
I have an Ameristep Doghouse and a Spartan. I love ground blinds, the comfort is just so much better and it’s awesome to be able to move easily and freely. I can stay in a ground blind longer, so I feel like my chances are better.
The Doghouse is too small for your needs strictly a quick one-man solution when you need something light and portable to hunt that day.
The Spartan is terrific. Easy to set up and roomy enough for 2. Super solid in wind, I set one up in September and take it down in December. Even holds 4 inches of snow on the roof. I like the window setup with both side and corner windows. Only criticism is that the door could be bigger. I have to fully unzip it and use every inch to get in.
The “must avoid” mistake I’ve heard guys talk about over and over is getting in a hurry setting them up and then not bothering staking out the guy wires that support the sides. Only bad things will happen. Not only will the blind rattle in the wind, but it could collapse or pull up in a strong wind. Put a stake in and connect every side support/guy line that the manu supplies.
I’ve never needed a heater in a ground blind, if anything I’ve been too warm. Get that ground blind out in the afternoon sun and I’ve been down to my t-shirt. If at all possible, position so you’re not facing the prevailing wind.
Only thing I’ve noticed about all ground blinds is the wimpy stakes they come with. Go to the camping section in Fleet and buy some big aftermarket steel tent stakes. The stakes that the blinds come with are all junk. Then be sure you leave enough of the stake sticking out of the ground that it can be pried out with a crowbar once the ground freezes.

I have the Predator Ghost blind and love it. Its quick and easy to set up and can fit two adults comfortably. The only down side is you can’t leave it up over night due to moisture getting in the panels.
