My normal 25 minute commute changed into working from home for the day. It was great.

The closure of 694 in Oakdale must really be adding to the misery?Absolutely, 35E south and 36 have been nightmares this week. I’ve been totally sinkholed.
The Sinkhole that Ate Oakdale won’t be repaired until Friday or Saturday, so the traffic is just a hot mess 24/7 in this area. McKnight and Century Avenue (Hwy 120) take all the diverted traffic so these streets are gridlocked during rush hour because of multiple stoplights. What a mess.

Bummer guys my office is in my house so the traffic going down stairs to my office was terible almost tripped on some lint! HA HA. Really we have some troubles here in the northland as well. We drive 30-50 miles each way to work for alot of people up here and it may not be grid lock but it still takes extra time. I really like the really small cars that are so fuel effecient all summer and looking at us guys in big trucks like we are poluting the whole world then it turns to winter and their looks now turn to puppy dog eyes, saying please help us.I don’t drive a small car, but I get joy out of the inverse when the dudes in big trucks are in the ditch because ‘they are in a truck and have 4WD’ as if that means they get perfect traction no matter the conditions. Meanwhile, the dudes in small cars are just fine because they are actually driving at an2 appropriate speed.
I would love to see a study done on cars in the ditch. I would not be surprised if a higher percentage of AWD/4WD vehicles go in the ditch than their 2WD counterparts.
Of course, a small car can’t help anyone if they are in the ditch, so don’t take this as me bashing trucks or anything. But guys who drive trucks are far from immune from stupid driving.
Phil, my dad said the same thing and would agree the 4wd vehicles in the ditch outnumber cars. He was a WI state trooper for 30 years.

I remember the first time my friend got a new 4×4 vehicle. We were about 17 at the time. Immediately drove it on the street and plowed into a 3ft snowbank expecting his truck would just drive right through it. I didn’t say much when I showed up with a shovel but 2 hours later he was buying me lunch.

Pretty sure I know who your Dad is bud
He’s right…..I was a truckdriver for 25 and saw it way more when 4 wheel trucks became more popularDecember 7, 2017 at 6:07 am #1733520I’m with Andy. Give me crap about driving slow and I love it…as long as I’m in the right lane. Slow and steady wins the race. Better on your gas mileage and brake pads to boot.
One question? Why wasn’t it too windy in WI for dropping sand/salt?
As soon as I crossed the bridge into WI the East/West roads were great. County 35 had some snow blowing over it in spots but for the most part, it was good winter driving conditions.
