Big chunks of the lower bay opened up over the last few days and I had a chance to run over this weekend to check it out. We did a combination of trolling and casting Rippin Raps and both produced well. I was fortunate enough to catch an 11 lb 2 oz eye casting a number 7 rippin rap and boat a 9 lb 2 oz walley caught trolling #5 Smash Shads. Overall pretty solid numbers of fish with a nice batch in the 4 to 6 lb range as well.

Man, did it feel good to be back out in the boat!

    7′ – 9′ was best for us.

I think the most enjoyable part of the whole day was that at no time did we ever see another boat on the water not even out on the horizons. It felt like we had the entire Bay to ourselves. Given how busy Green Bay can get it was an extra special treat!

First fish was 13#+ and 32″? James, you should think about a “warm-up” fish next time. Guy could hurt himself…

That question about the weight of the 32″ walleye was referring to a fish I caught through the ice a few weeks ago out on Erie. Or at least that’s how I interpreted it. PJ was definitely in the running for biggest fish until I caught that 11-2 at the end of the day.
