Green Bay in 2 weeks.

I know, too soon. That being said I will be in green bay in 2 weeks for some in service. Will be done early afternoon and have pretty much all day friday. Thinking of hauling my boat over. It’s a 98 Alumacraft Tournament Pro 170CS so not super huge and not a typical Green Bay boat.

I am curious if around this time it would still be a river bite or if people would really be staging out on the bay near the river mouths. I’m not against going out on the bay assuming it’s not silly out there.

Thanks for any tips and input.

you will be fine with that boat on the bay…. fish should still be in the river or worse case scenario depending on ice very close to river mouths

It may still be locked up with ice. Fox river may be your best choice. I went last year right after ice out and it was tough.

Will be there the weekend of the 6th. Too early to tell where the bite will be. But, the Fox is open so there is a guaranteed place to fish.

I think we were late last year.

That would be great. I guess I just assumed the ice would be out. I’m still debating bringing my boat vs trying to find a guide or open seat and working something out.

Just an fyi, the first AIM tourney is on the 8th. The bay itself may still be locked up so you may have a lot more company in the river that weekend. 100 tourney boats plus the weekend crowd.

Pretty unlikely the Bay will be open in 2 weeks. The Fox is open and the big girls have yet to make a big push. The Oconto River is mostly ice free from what I hear. The Wolf is open for business, still mostly resident fish, lots of 12”era.

Was reading Bret Alexander’s post on FB yesterday and one guy said they were 3 miles offshore with wheelers and had over 2 feet of ice yet… Wind and ice breakers may change that fast, but every morning around here it’s still in single digits!!!

They have been doing well on the Fox though, just can’t be in the crowd!!!

That sucks. That might be enough for me to say forget it tbh.
