First Green Bay walleye adventure this past weekend. We decided to try the port of Marinette. Fun, but challenging. While motoring past the 75 boats in the river we saw a total of 2 fish caught. The lake was our destination. Trolled from 6 to 40 fow, and caught fish (few) anywhere from 6 to around 18′. Very scattered – one here, one there type of deal. Made our way south just past Peshtigo, and really didn’t see anyone else catching fish. Water conditions seemed ideal – temps approaching 50 degrees at the north ends of the bays, but the eyes seemed to disagree. The bite did pick up toward evening as we caught 4 in the last 20 min of light. Fun part was the mixed bag – walleyes, pike, brown trout, and a whitefish! Had one scatter minnow that was gone when we reeled in the line, so most likely a big pike or musky took care of that one.
Guessing we should have tried further south, but will have to save that for the next trip. It was still fun being out.
