Noticed the same thing last night. Stopped by a buddy’s place that overlooks a large slough for some shed beers. Geese honking, swans overhead, frog’s croaking,

I like the sound of the red wing blackbirds in the swamp

Even though man has produced some awesome music, I don’t think anything can compare to Mother Nature.

Sitting here at the farm, no tv, no Spotify, no Alexa. 1st night of the year to hear the frogs. Few coon chattering, Coyotes sounding off, and waking up to thunder roaring. Doesn’t get much better

This! Completely agree Randy and each season brings us different tunes.

10 or so years ago I was hiking along the st croix, between franconia and Taylor’s falls. The river appears to be mostly iced up but it was pretty warm out.
About a hour in to our walk we could hear a crazy rumble and what sounded like big branches breaking. We rounded the river bend and the ice was getting pushed by broken ice and building a crazy ice shelf which was breaking and pushing huge timber down on the banks. It was wild and just unbelievable the amount of force the breaking ice had. In areas it pushed the soil way back and took all the brush and trees with it. We were happy to be up on the hill side a little bit.
I imagine the dam was opened and the flowing water caused this, but it was just the coolest sound of mother nature’s destruction.

Randy, I know we pretty much agree on everything in nature, owls in the evening after the other birds go to sleep, the call of the Whippoorwill, the bobwhite in the mornings, even the sparrows are good to hear when you are outside when its springtime.
And one of the most satisfying sounds there is when you are trying to take it all in, the very distinct crack of a 220 swift round at 4000 fps taking the dang feral cat off of the fencepost outside your bedroom window at midnight that is yowling for a mate or a fight with another tom.
