In light of this thread I took a listen to “Achilles Last Stand” yesterday. Always liked Page’s solo in that song.

You talking Ace Frehley? I like the solo in 100,000 Years.

I just listened to Brothers and Sisters tonight. Dickie Betts and Les Dudek crushed on Jessica, Chuck Leavell’s piano was darn good as well.

Any thing by, Chet Atkins from the late great or Leo Kotke, still plugging away just saw him last spring in Red Wing at the Fitzgerald. Then there is Richard Thompson still writing and playing awesome music to this day. Ry Cooper gets a mention also. These guys have so much stuff behind them one can’t pinpoint one better than the other.

One more mention David Gilmore specialy on Supertramps Brother where you bound album.

Another guitar player that falls into a different category from that era was Steve Howe from Yes. Classical influenced. I like his acoustic work on “And You And I” & “Ancient Giants Under the Sun”. As a general rule I’m not a big fan of speed but I do like most of the solo on “Awaken”.

Another name is Gary Moore. Phenomenal bending and vibrato control. A well known song of his is Parisienne Walkways.

Well, GnR for sure if the list was 80s – 90s, but they didn’t hit the scene until 86 or 87. But Yeah Frehley should get some love.

Morel King with Thin Lizzy’s COWBOY SONG for the win!
