Hey guys, if any of you or anyone you know is interested in getting into the highway heavy trades please let me know.

The company I work for is growing and looking for utility guys.

We’re looking for able bodied motivated individuals that show up to work.

No experience necessary but any pipe/utility experience is a plus. We WILL TRAIN anyone willing to learn.

All work is in the Twin Cities METRO area, starting pay will be in the $35-40 range ($52.50-$60.00 OT) with full benefits/pension ON TOP of that (meaning the $35-$40 is on your check)

It’s full-time + overtime union job (typically 45-60hrs a week depending on weather) for about 8 months a year, then unemployment through the winter months (max is $820 a week now)

There is always room to grow and move up in our world of utilities. Virtually every foreman and superintendent started as a new guy with the positions offered here.

Please shoot me a PM or email at B-man 715 at hotmail dot com

I’m guessing it’s a laboring position, and maybe operator’s also.

I’m guessing 563 laborers, one or If not the strongest union running. 1000 bucks comes off the vacation fund. Best health, medical, dental plan in MN. Pension, 401k, and guaranteed work. The 1000 sign up only hurts the guys who start and quit. But for the rest it just adds to the Pension and we thank you. My son just got 7500 worth of eye work and it costed 0 out of pocket, then the lady called me to tell me I had 2500 worth of eye glass I could use on non prescription sunglasses. 6 pairs of oakley, coatas, and ray bans later I’m not maxed out on eye glass alone. It’s well worth it if your not going to be a office guy.
Personally I wouldn’t be a sewer guy, because concrete does good for me. But the union is a great opportunity. I haven’t been laid off or collected unemployment in 13 years. And taking this route I haven’t make less then triple digits since I was 18

If I was ten years younger, I’d seriously consider switching from an office job to a trades/union job. Especially with what incentives are out there now.

I wish I would have gotten into the trades. Seeing what some of my guy friends do looks so much fun. Hard work and messy sure, but getting to build, create, or fix things and then step back and say “I did that!” has got to be a great feeling! waytogo

I have a 15 year old son that I see going into the trades. He’s a hard worker and likes being outside. He works excavating now for his grandpa in the summer and would rather do that for less pay than work fast food for more pay. The job opportunities for the kids now days within the trades is insane compared to when I was younger.

Agreed. More kids should be doing this rather than getting a degree in philosophy and $100k in debt coming out of college…

The opportunities in the trades for young guys are incredible right now, and I believe we need to do a better job of educating high school kids of these opportunities that don’t require college educations. As a kid from a relatively well off TC suburb it was pounded into my head from a young age that going to college was the only path to a happy and successful future, which is obviously not the case.

I don’t regret going to school, as I am now working in the construction industry with an engineering degree. But I do occasionally question my decisions when I am cooped up in the job trailer on a beautiful day and I look at the window and see kids younger than me out there busting ass and making comparable money to me with a fraction of the responsibility/ stress lol.

WalleyeDan.. right on the mark. For the past 20 or so years, young minds in HS were told, “without a 4 year degree, you get nothing”. They were mislead and now they all stand there with 4 year degrees, barely worth the paper they are printed on and want the government to pay their loan debt… (who can fault them?) Meanwhile, the trades are full of aged personnel, retiring at a faster than normal rate when Covid came about, but the pipeline is empty. We are really feeling it in the Automotive business, for the last 10 years for sure… and its only getting worse. I can remember when St Cloud Tech college, Willmar Tech college, were pumping out Auto techs and Auto body students every year by the hundreds… now at SCTC they put about 30 out per year, hardly enough to supply the demand. We also are paying higher wages for those with the ability (minus the Sunglasses)… of course as it goes with everything, it gets passed along to the end users.

Racket? How do you know the money he used wasn’t from a health care savings account that he contributed to for years to use for stuff like that?

He said a lady told him he had $2500 for non-prescription sunglasses…the way a health savings account works, you don’t have set amounts for different categories… That and HSA’s only cover prescription sunglasses. That’s how. coffee

I joined a union when I started a new job at the old age of 22. Working in a shop building stainless steel vessels. Not near the money the field guys made. Did that for 28 years, then became a union thug for 13 1/2 years. Retired at 63 with a nice monthly pension. A 42 year member of the Boilermakers union. Now a retired member!!

Don’t think HSA money can be used for non prescription sunglasses..

Insurance paying for non prescription sunglasses doesn’t seem legit to me either..

My eye insurance will pay $150 towards a pair of non prescription sunglasses every year for me. I had Lasik done almost 20yrs ago, since I don’t need glasses or contacts they offer the 150 as an incentive. New polarized at a heck of a discount. That reminds me my annual exam is coming up next month.

I do have set amounts for different categories, and also 0 out of pocket deductible. If you want to further argue the “racket” call zenith administration’s and argue with them chief

Always thought the union membership fee and dues was a way for the union to weed out the stupid people. Not willing to spend a little for a very good paying job but more than happy to work for less.

Sharon you are not to old to get into a trade..

Unions have created more to the inflation the last year than anything. Unions are good for Union workers and that’s it.
