Spent a great day on P2 this afternoon. Spent most of the afternoon trolling flicker shads and it wasn’t too long before we were into fish. Took a little bit to dial in the depth, speed, color, direction, etc…We caught mostly Saugers along with a few Walleyes; some of the Saugers were nice with bigger ones just under 21″. Seems like the Saugers would really smack our crankbaits and would fight harder than Walleyes.
We found the best speeds were 2 to 2.5 mph upstream and 3 to 3.5 mph downstream. We caught fish both upstream and downstream as well. A few key points we noticed was we had to keep switching colors to get bit and it was important to keep our flicker shads tuned (even checking after every fish). Tuned flicker shads catch alot more fish than untuned ones and helps with tangling up with your partner.
We then ended the evening casting crankbaits to wingdams. Seemed like you got bit right away so we only spent about 10 minutes on each wingdam and moved on.
I tried attaching pictures but I kept having problems.
All in all a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
