Trout Lake (Coleraine)- the walleye bite has been spotty some guys do really well one night and the next night not so good. Rigs and Spinners with leeches and crawlers around the sunken reefs and shoreline. The panfish bite has been ok over in Ryberg in 8-12 FOW.

    Splithand Lake – No Reports

Moose Lake – The walleyes are in the weeds, trolling spinners with a crawlers and pitching jigs with a minnow seem to be the go technique for most fisherman.

Lake Winnie – I have been noticing there aren’t a lot of posts about the bite on Winnie, so I will let you know what I know. The walleye bite has been good along the north shore in 10-14 FOW. Also, the Bena Bar has been producing some good numbers of fish. Overall the bite on Winnie has been good the last couple of weeks.

Bowstring – Again not a lot reports been Bowstring has been HOT most of the year; it has slowed a bit but I hear they are still catching fish. Also, if you want to go out and catch a meal of Northerns this is your lake, the limit is 9 per person and they will bite on anything.

Deer Lake – No Reports that I have heard

Pokegama – The walleye day bite has slowed a bit, the ‘eyes can still be caught on the sunken reefs and in the weeds. The panfish bite is hot right now out on the humps and on the points. I haven’t heard of any Crappie bite yet but it is about that time where when the sun hits the tree tops the crappies move up and start to bite in 12-17 FOW. A jig tipped with a minnow and a slip bobber has been the best presentation in the past.

The night bite is turning on right now with the full moon approaching, lots of reports of guys out catching nice eater walleyes at night and the occasional BIG one. Try along the shore breaks or out by the islands, 2.2 to 3.0 mph seems to be the right speed. I have heard of several different colors to try but they have one thing in common bright. Fire Tigers, Bleeding Olives, Clowns there doesn’t seem to a color pattern from the sounds of it. #5 to #7 shad raps seem to be the go to style for the majority of fisherman right now.

The lake trout on Poke are going pretty good, I have been out the last two evenings and have picked a couple each night and one bonus 28″ walleye. Try setting the bait 40′ down and troll the abyss. Blue colored raps and purple have been the best colors thus far. No real consistent depth has been determined as of yet.

    Absolutely awesome info?

Mike, what’s up with the 9 pike limit? Is there an effort to eliminate the pike or just improve the size structure of the pike in the lake?

The pike are over populated and most between 16 to 22 inches. I assume its to improve the size of the fish in the lake.

Earlier this summer we caught around 80 northern to 30 walleyes one day. If you are looking for one of the hottest bites around that would be the lake I would go to for the number of pike you can catch in one day. I am sure if you just targeted them it would be like catching panfish.

i was on bowstring sunday july 15th and never caught a fish. i think i was fishing to deep from other reports. neither did the other 14 boats i seen out there. BUT, there where like a bazillion snails floatin dead and it kinda of smelled bad. also seen some tullibbees and suckers floating dead. i really think thats what affected the fishing.

i know bowstrings been a hot lake and absolutely not knockin mike report. this is just my experience that particular day!

the 9 fish 22″ and smaller limit is for the bowstring……sand lake and i believe the rice lake system. way to many little nords. there good size for picklinand like mike said its intent is produce larger nords. i do know there are a few biggins in there. seen them on my camera winter fishin out there. just thought i’d add my 2 cents

Thanks for the report, I just hear information from other fisherman that have been up there. I haven’t fished the lake since early June. The last report I had heard was they fish were biting near the mouth of the river on the drop edge, out by the rock pile and along the North Shore. My buddy was up there a week ago and caught some nice fish near the river.

funny you say that. i got a co-worker that lives near the lake. knows one of the resort owners and said the same thing about the rock pile. i seen a rock pile marked on my lakemap on my GPS but didnt appear to be much structure/depth varience there not to mention it seemed pretty far out into the lake from where i percieved he told me it was. again i think i was fishing to deep but i did see boats trolling in front of the river, to sand lake, right? and no luck. guess thats why they call it fishin!!!!!

Yep, the river that goes to Sand Lake; yes thats why they call it fishing. Although this guy pretty much only fishes Bowstring and for him it always seems like he is catching on that lake. There are a few rock piles that I know of on the lake. The one I hear the best reports from is the one that is basically straight north of the south landing.

I haven’t made it to Jessie, but have heard the same thing. I primarily fish Pokegama, Trout, Splithand, Red Lake and Lake of the Woods.
