You mean one of these? I was seriously looking at one of these to buy a few years ago. Not only because I am a grandpa, but more so because until the grandkids get older, I’d be mostly fishing myself. Perhaps there’s a reason it’s called “Grandpa’s Hideout”? roll

However until I’m retired and could spend the entire ice fishing season living in it…I figured out it’s more cost effective to rent sleeper houses from resorts and have much more room and other perks.

But to answer your question, it would be the lap of luxury with 2 guys fishing in it. If you brought your wife along instead…”Honeymoon Hideout”… wink

How are the sleeping accommodations for two adults, including one who is 6’ 3”?

well I think the standard model just has a jackknife sofa in it but ive seen them made with a bunk up top as well. the standard model is 6.5×8 and the price runs around 6-7k. Ive seen some slightly used ones for closer to 5 which sounds more reasonable to me. I imagine that at 6′ 3″ you may have to lay sideways a bit on the bed to fully stretch out but im sure its doable. One of these would be great for getting on early ice too.

Should be ok, might have your feet over the edge a bit on the foldout but you could sleep in the fetal position. smile

If you’re buying brand new, contact Brett at Ice Castle, and they’ll work with you to get it laid out however you want it, and add on/remove/upgrade/downgrade any features or materials.

It can be really fun to sit down with a bare outline of the dimensions of the house, and draw everything up. Really makes it your own.

I’ve been thinking about getting a small, used wheelhouse for about $4-5000 that could also be used for camping. These Hideouts fit the bill.

I would have my dad’s buddy, who is an expert welder with a lifetime’s experience, reinforce and/or replace the axel and springs to beef them up a bit so they don’t break in the ice. This guy fixes these part on IceCastles multiple times a week all winter.

I’m about 4″ shorter than you Crappie. I’d say I’m probably the tallest guy that should try to sleep the width of a 6 1/2 foot wide house. My old Yetti was 6 1/2 foot and I could just barely stretch out without having to curl up.

Maybe you could have them build you one, like SW eyes says, with a bunk that goes front to back.

I took a look one at the show this year. I think it would easily fish 2 guys comfortably. I would have gotten one but I’m not an Ice Castle guy. I wish Firebrand or Yetti would make one that small.

I had one custom made went with a 10’fish’s 2 full size men with ease and could make 3 work. If sleeping in it 2 is tight but will work.
