    Hi guys,

I am a new member and am enjoying reading some informative threads on Grand Marais/ North Shore fishing. I am an avid walleye fisherman from Lake Okoboji, IA and I am heading to Grand Marais for the first time for a week long trip (9/30-10/6) with the wife and kid. I will certainly have some time to do some fishing. Any tips or suggestions? Open for any advice. Don’t necessarily need any hot spots just general information. Also, if anyone is serious about showing a North Shore rookie some spots/techniques I would be more than willing to bring some gear for them. I live in Spirit Lake, Iowa where Berkley fisherman’s factory outlet is located. Amazing discount prices on great stuff. Just a thought…

    Thanks in advance.

Will you be fishing from shore or a boat?

Edit, never mind. It’s in your title. I have no experience fishing in the Grand Marais area but I’m guessing that some fish may be caught from the breakwall. Otherwise I think you’re looking at a tough time of year for fishing from shore in that area. I look forward to what others may say though.

When you say you catch walleye in Iowa that’s code for bullheads, right?

It’s 1.5 hours south but some of the info on fishing the break wall in Two Harbors found in this recent thread could be of use to you.

Hi Tom. Saw your other post in the Lake Superior thread last night and just sent you a PM as well with a few options depending on what type of fishing you were hoping to do.

Unless the weather forecast takes a turn for the worse (always a distinct possibility up there this time of year). I’ll be up there middle of next week and trying to get out on Superior a couple last times before the season closes – if that is something that would be of interest to you some morning or afternoon.

PM has my contact info if you have any other questions on the fishing options I mentioned or other things to do in the area.
