    1’ Contours for Mississippi River Pools 1 – 8…!!!

As the “hardwater” season has come to a close in the majority of the upper midwest, fishermen begin to switch their focus. Having traded 30″ fishing rods for 6-7′ rods, many anglers take advantage of the first open water. Between Minnesota and Wisconsin, fishing on the Mississippi river has recently experienced a major advancement. LakeMaster Lake Maps has created high definition 1ft contours for pools 1-8 on the Upper Mississippi River. Mile Markers, Buoys, Wingdams, Access Points, and many more features have been added. Available for Lowrance GPS Units on the Minnesota Version 6 GPS Map & Wisconsin Version 4 GPS Map Cards.

Might not work on the birds, but they work GREAT on Lowrance for finding sturgeon holes and pathways!

Using the Contour Pro software is like boating around the Rainy and LOTW’s from the comfort of your easy chair hundreds of miles away. Picking and choosing your A, B and C spots prior to hooking up the boat.

It’s clearly one of the most under utilized fishing tools on the market today.

Talked with Lakemaster this AM about ordering a Rainy chip for my Humminbirds and ran your question by them as well. Here’s the scoop:

If you order your Garmin chip online from Lakemaster you’ll always get the most current product. Same goes for any of the other chips… they’re always selling the most current release. So you can order from them with confidence. In the store I was told that Garmin doesn’t change the SKU or UPC on the package from one year to the next but there will be a small “Lakemaster 2010” sticker on the package that will let you know you have the latest release.

    Hope this helps.

There are a number of units that the 2010 Chips are not running in yet – sounds like both H-birds and Lowrance. Check before you buy!
I’m still waiting for a fix myself. Mine was $109.00 (with MN/MPLS tax). I’m hoping to be able to use it at some point.

    Split,

What unit are you running? I know some of the black and white Lowrance units will have issues.

Here are the ones I know for sure it is not working in: Lowrance 520, 27, and Globalmap 7200c. There are however, a few other Lowrance units and a few H-birds out there too that it is not working in. I don’t remember all the unit numbers, but I have read posts on other fishing sites with guy’s having the same issues (with other models).
I’ve already talked with Lakemaster and they are fully aware of the issue – and of all the particular non-working units. …So are most major sales distributors. Lakemaster has stated that they are currently working to resolve the problem, so I have decided to patiently wait it out. Based on my conversations with them, I trust they will find a fix in short order. I’m sure this is a huge deal to them and a top priority for their company. Either way, I personally want to keep my 2010 chip, so I’ll continue to wait for a fix. The key for others though is,… Be aware of the issue so you can make an educated purchasing decision – before you end up with a blank screen on your unit as well.

    Guys,

There are a bunch of units that the new LakeMaster chip will not work with. Some sort of display issue they are trying to correct. They have a press release posted on their website with further details.

I’m running a LMS-522 with all the current software upgrades. I put the chip in and I just get a blank screen.

Within the PR they state there is a program to return chip that are having this issue. So I sent them an e-mail to sign me up to get a new chip and they replied by saying to look at the press release. They didn’t give any details on how to return my chip.

In my opinion, very poor custom service.

It will be interesting to see how retailers who already have this chip on their shelves handle this.

I stopped in to LakeMaster on Friday.

I don’t say trust me too often…but trust me, the are working as fast as they can to resolve the older unit issue.

Bottom line? They are waiting on Lowrance for the fix because it’s a change in their code that’s causing the issue.

Keep watch IDO or the LakeMaster site for details. The guys at LakeMaster take this very seriously and will have those issues fixed asap.
