so I bought a Lakemaster chip for my garmim nuvi.( I can’t afford a true gps/depthfinder right now) how do I get the most out of it and can you use the chip on your cpu as well? right now, what I see is one foot depth changes on the river.. and that maybe all well and good. but isn’t there more I can do.. plus change the colors to show depth? there are not real instructions with the disk, and I bought it brand new at the local pro shop.

Not much you can do with a chip other than view the information on it.

Humminbird allows you to change depth colors but that feature is built into the device and not the chip.

Marking and renaming waypoints, and create tracks. Make sure to enable/disable either the preloaded map or lakemaster for whichever you are using. I had lakemaster enabled and it wouldnt let me search for address’s while using in the truck

making tracks and waypoints are the most important.. can I use this chip on my CPU as well?

I don’t think so but it’s worth a shot. I tried my garmin chip in my bird just to try, but didn’t work

Routes, trails, and way-points are saved to the device and

will be visible with or without the chip installed.
