Got my personal best this weekend!

Since I got back into walleye fishing heavily the last 5 years I have been stuck in the 26″ range for my biggest walleye. Infact I caught my personal best this may on leech lake at 26.5 inches.

Well I beat that fish on saturday in the hot afternoon sun. Trolling on Pepin for a walleye searchers tournament. Had 1 fish in the morning and could not find anything else to cooperate. Went back to where I caught my 1 fish in the morning and hooked into a fish. It was pulling and I had to feed it some line. I was convinced it was a cat or a sheepshead. But to my surprise and excitement it ended up being a 28″ eye. I was alone so I had the added excitement of trying to keep myself calm while I netted it lol

Congrats. Its always fun to see a big walleye next to the boat. Glad you were able to get the net under her.

Thanks everyone it was definetly a thrill. Was also nice because. I got to fight the fish which doesn’t always happen trolling.

Even better yet that fish and the 24.75 I caught in the morning are still out there for you

Yes, nice catch. What I’m more impressed with is if you were alone and released it, how’d you get the nice pic holding it?

Caught the fish an hour before the tournament ended. Had a guy at the dock take my picture and then I released it.

That was good luck too. A nice fish deserves a good photo being held. Selfies just don’t look right with the fish along side your cheek.
I’ve been dissapointed in the past getting a nice fish alone and not able to get a good photo…just put it back in the water and it’s just a memory then.
