I hit the gun club this morning to try and get the Optima Pistol dialed in using the BH209 powder and 44 cal 240 grain XTP bullets. There was some wind and I wasn’t certain how things would go but I got my eyes opened.
The shot to the left was out of a cold, clean barrel. The shot low, center was the second shot. I mad a little scope tweak and the next bunch all went inside of a ring 1 3/4″ wide by 1 1/4 high. The cluster in the top center of the inked circle has 5 shots in it. The top two touch, the bottom two touch and the one in the middle sort of makes the hole complete.
63 grains [weighed] of the BH209 powder. A green Harvestor sabot held the 240 grain bullet. CCIm primer. 50 yards. I say its deer ready. Very, very happy with how the 240 grain XTPs shoot. Maybe a little recoil heavy….about like a 454 Casul or 460 but man is this accurate.
