I was in the USMC stationed at Cherry Point N.C. from mid May till end of September this would be a average day, most worst, I hated it,no air in the barracks at that time 1969.

Worked yesterday on redecking an old second story deck. Had a full bath towel hanging on a post and had to wipe my face and neck every 10 to 15 minutes. Sweat dripping down the inside of my glasses, I was soaked from the top of my head to my belt. It was pretty uncomfortable but nothing like the gulf coast of Texas July through October with heat indexes around 120 to 125 every single day, but it was warm yesterday. I’ll take the comfort of below zero any day before I’ll take 125 degree heat index, at 1:00 yesterday it was a 115 index and the air was saturated with water. 15 to 50 degrees is very comfortable.

I was never much for complaining about the weather. Just makes the day longer.

No complaints here. I did go home on Wednesday to no AC, but they got it fixed for me in a hurry. I’ll take this weather over snow any day of the week!

I look forward to winter all summer long, not because of hot days, just because of ice fishing peace

Winter days are better than these ugly summer days.I never will complain about weather in winter.

No AC I would die ,do not know how you do that but I’m also the guy who keeps windows open going into Dec. at home. It has to be cool in the house or I’m not very happy person.

    Not quite santa

We do generally have storms every day, although this year we are way behind in rain for July. If we don’t get rain, we still usually have a storm close enough to give us a temporary respite from the down drafts and gust fronts.

As a guy who sits in front of a computer all day and doesn’t exercise, it feel good working up a drenching sweat mowing the lawn or doing yard work.

I will take this over the cold any day. Working in a auto shop gets to me after a couple days though, its like working inside an oven and leaning over the stove all day.

I like it hot like this in the summer and cold in the winter, I like the different seasons we have. I actually had to put a sweatshirt on last night after getting out of the pool. we get so few of these days each summer we need to enjoy them while we can.

It’s weather like this that makes me appreciate the fact that we do NOT have weather like this on a regular basis here in MN! I hate, hate, hate humidity and heat.

Both Mrs Grouse and I have jobs where we’re interacting with people from all over the country. We were just talking about a month ago about how often we get “the winter question”. i.e. How can you live in Minnesota in the winter?

Well, here’s the reason. Because I’d rather have that than this.

A business contact of mine and interestingly a former Olympic swimmer got transferred to Houston about 7-8 years ago. Every time we talked, he told me how freaking awful Houston was for heat/humidity and he always claimed he was moving the day after he retired.

So I get a LinkedIn update last July from Big Bob in Houston saying he’s now officially retired and I pick up the phone and call him to say congrats. He answers and he’s obviously driving and I say, where are you?

“I’m in a U-Haul and my wife is following me. We’re about halfway to our new place in the mountains in Utah! I can’t wait to put on a sweatshirt and sit outside tonight and hopefully I get cold and have to put on long pants for the first time in 9 months.” He actually did it. He literally packed up and hit the road the day after he retired because of the heat/humidity.

Yes, this stretch was maybe 3-4 days. Definitely a far cry from 50+ day stretch in Texas.

Quit your complaining…..90-95 degrees everyday and 90% humidity here in Mississippi. Good thing the winters are nice. Can’t remember the last time I stepped outside and didn’t instantly start sweating….everywhere!!

    Amen!

I’m one of those people with a wide range of comfortable temperature. Seems like many people can’t sleep if it’s not 66 +/- 1 degree.

I’ve heard rumors that things are kind of weird in Woodbury. Maybe you’d enjoy mowing even more if a woman in thigh-high leather boots would walk behind you cracking a bullwhip?

I’ll make adjustments to deal with this humidity and heat like start work earlier and quite earlier. What I feel bad for is the puppy. At 11 years old the pupp still wants to play with the frisbie even with early arthritis. I wont take a chance, a bit of excercise then inside she goes. Poor pup just wants to play.

Minnesota is the land of extreme cold and humidity. I rarely complain but if its this thick I sit in my basement where it is always comfy. To be honest I cant wait for overcast skies with the leaves falling and dreary weather. I get goose bumps just thinking about it. I love summer but live for crisp fall air which means Ice is on its way…………cant come soon enough!
