Well 2015 has been a real roller coaster for me. To be honest I wasn’t even sure i was going to hunt at all this fall but I came to my senses and got after em !

I got an itchy trigger finger in Kansas the last week of October and took a great up and comer out. Things happen fast what can I say. I did pinwheel him at 22 yards right in the heart and watched him fall 30 yards later. The site of a lighted nock burying behind the front shoulder enough to rejuvenate anyone !

Then it was off to Kentucky to bow hunt and then if I had to gun hunt. I passed on 28 bucks that week and only saw one ‘shooter” without a shot. Opening weekend of gun was slow. I had to return to Iowa for a couple weeks and was lucky enough to film a buddy of mine shoot a good one. Thanksgiving came around and I returned to Kentucky to duck hunt and if possible squeeze in a deer hunt or 2. Well the weather was awful for both warm and wet. The ducks dont mind wet but the warm had them up north yet. Finally the last day we got a bit of a cool down but the rain persisted so much so that i wouldn’t have even hunted with a bow but with my Browning A-BOLT 30-06 “Black Betty” it was game on. Low and behold was blessed with a last hour last day 140 4/8 inch 9-point. He was easily the biggest bodied buck I have ever shot !

Now to get all the hoops jumped through to get an Iowa resident tag in time for late muzzleloader season and its on … again !

Nicely done Pat. Hopefully you can get your late muzzy tag figured out.
