NIL is going to operate outside the NCAA/Title IX system, there simply is no way to require Athlete A to share his sponsorship money with Athlete B, who did nothing to earn or produce the sponsorship relationship. However, the collaborative money (a school fund alumni contribute to at the U it’s called Dinkeytown Athletes or something similar) will likely have Title IX rules apply. Which will likely be the death knell for a lot of women’s sports and not football/basketball male sports. Have 36 athletic programs is going to be tough to fund the athletes equally when your competition or a SEC team make the other sport club teams not subject to Title IX.
