Oh, never mind. Not televised. Thanks Big ten! You’ve ruined one of the best sporting events on tv.

Yes, I read about that in todays newspaper. And if it wasn’t bad enough that the Big 10 strong armed the Big 10 schools into leaving their former respective conferences into this Big 10 college hockey conference and reducing the interest and following, now you can’t even watch the local team on TV??
No matter. The imported announcers wouldn’t know where Duluth is anyway.
Hopefully this year will be like last year’s TV schedule. Close to half the games were on FSN.
Naturally, I’m up north and the game is being aired on Duluth MY9 and our digital to analog converter is on the fritz

I had no idea there was a story on this. Thanks, I just read it.
Same crap happened to me last weekend when I wanted to watch the gophers football game. The game was actually televised on FS1 but due to the Big joke network owing the rights to all the big ten games, it was blacked out on Sling TV.
It’s all part of some confusing plan to make huge profits. Somehow televising fewer games makes more money.
Regarding hockey, I remember when the only games not televised were at AK Anchorage. Now? The won’t televise games against UND or UND? WTF?
And last year? One game against Michigan wasn’t televised. Again, Wtf?
I got Yanks vs Indians. Bottom 13 tied 8-8.
Down 8-3 the tribe takes it in the 13th inning 9-8. Chief Wahoo is smiling tonight…

Same old story here as stated before Duluth is the number 1 Hockey team in Minnesota and it’s not even close.

Fun Fact: 3-17…Gopher’s record in their past 20 games against in-state schools.
My cousin has season Bulldog tickets. The have 10 freshmen on their team this year…. Average age is 22.
I understand D1 teams bringing at 19 or 20 after a year or two of juniors, but 22 year old freshmen????

No,
That’s just Canadians coming over the border on a work visa…….

And that’s why the chant at the old decc U-M-D U-M-D got changed to U-S-A whenthe gopher fans were there.
22 year old Freshmen. It is the new norm driven by money. Driven by winning at the cost of a true college experience.
My son is currently playing Jr. He will need to play there at least 2 years maybe 3 prior to playing College hockey, if he is lucky enough to get on a team.
The top driving factor is the fact hockey is now driven by a volume of high skill, extremely well trained players. By far more than ever and by far greater skill than ever.
IN this thread we are talking about D1 22 year old freshmen, what most don’t know is that D2/D3 college is also aged. The average freshmen is now 21/22 even at St Thomas, Bethel, River falls, etc….
It is really sad, there is no path for a kid to continue his education and play College hockey. Junior is the only path for 99% of graduating high School seniors.
Oh and they are required to live in the dorms as 21/22 year old freshmen. Which could have its benefits but way more down side considering their ages. Not many fathers of College Freshmen girls would be too excited to learn this.
