This will be a good measuring stick for the program. Auburn and Bucky/Penn St. inhabit relatively same spot in college football. If they win what are expectations going into next season, or does it not matter either way.

Coon Rapids has one. I think Bloomington does too. Probably one of the most underrated chain restaurants out there.

It’s an exhibition and I don’t think a loss really hurts them but a win over a legit SEC team could help the program a lot.

Isn’t that the official bowl game slogan?

There’s one in LaCrosse, WI too and Eden Prairie near the mall. So ya there’s definitely still quite a few around.
Auburn is no joke that is for sure. Beat Alabama, losses to LSU, Georgia and Florida. It will be interesting to see how the Gophers stack up against them.
A win in this game could mean a lot to the program, but I dont think a loss will hurt too much.
Outlook for next season, I dont see the Gophers winning 10 regular season games again because their schedule will undoubtedly be tougher, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they did.
All fair points by Cpt. Musky.
We all were hoping/dreaming for something Rose Bowl-level or higher but a NYD game against an SEC powerhouse is pretty good. I know it’s an exhibition that may not carry that much weight but for the rest of their lives these players will be talking about this game, so I’m thinking they’ll be getting up for this game.
Extra practice time with the underclassmen a huge plus for Fleck & the team.
And regarding next season, yes the schedule will be tougher so 10 wins may be unlikely unless they really do move into that next echelon of the Big 10.
Why is everyone saying the Gophers schedule will be tougher? That’s such a cop out to explain any mediocre outcomes in 2020 after bringing a lot back. I see it as a similar schedule to this season’s and 10 wins should not be out of the picture. I’d predict 9 at least.
2019:
SDState
@Fresno State
Georgia Southern
@Purdue
Illinois
Nebraska
@Rutgers
Maryland
Penn State
@Iowa
@Northwestern
Wisconsin
2020:
Florida Atlantic

Michigan
@Illinois
@Michigan State
Purdue
Northwestern
@Nebraska
They dodge Ohio State again and have Michigan at home instead of Penn State (a very even swap). They also will get Iowa at home. Michigan State is down. Northwestern is down. There’s realistically 9 games they will be favorites in on that schedule, maybe 10 with Iowa at home and their graduation losses. The Gophers bring a lot back and everyone’s now converted to PJ’s boat. Don’t take the cowardly way out and toss your paddles now with another favorable schedule.
Agree, that schedule looks pretty dang friendly aside from away at Camp Randall. Not sure I would expect MSU to be as bad though, they have a decent crop coming in and Dantonio is as good a coach as any.

Admittedly I didnt see the 2020 schedule, just assumed it was going to include OSU, Michigan and Michigan State. By dodging OSU again, that certainly makes the schedule less daunting. That doesnt look as tough as I figured it would be.
The Gophers do have a ton of folks returning, but some key losses. Their O Line should be very good and look at the progress they made after the first few weeks there. I expect Winfield to leave and we know Johnson is gone since hes a senior. Those will be 2 big sets of shoes to fill, but provided Bateman stays they should still have some weapons because there are some skilled young guys in the mix.
but provided Bateman stays
I believe Bateman is a true Sophomore, so he can’t leave until next year.

Great for us, not for him. He should continue to be a stellar offensive weapon but this was kind of his “coming on the scene” year and his draft value would be so high right now, it’ll be hard to duplicate all that next year.

He is, but I thought they could leave after Sophomore year, but I just looked and they must be out of HS for 3 years. So YES, great news, just dont get injured buddy!
Winfield 1st Team AP AA and Bateman 3rd Team
Taylor and Biadasz 1st Team AP AA and Baun 2nd Team AA
Good start for the Goofs, a little shocked that Bateman was listed but oh well. I was wrong about that, now lets see what the other voting blocks think.
