I laughed. Seems refreshing and old school.

I laughed, too, but I felt a little bad for laughing.

Yeah, basically everything from a whoopie cushion on up is now a Federal offense. Have you read a “Student Code of Conduct” lately? I heard several metro area schools have quit printing it in their student handbook and include just a link to the 100 plus pages on a website.

Streaking would certainly fall under “Sexual Crimes” and be considered cause for arrest, expulsion, and probably a firing squad at dawn.

Anyone been in a Menard’s or Fleet Farm lately?

Can’t say I’ve seen pigeons there but the sparrows are thick.

wait a minute… so its ok to shut school down by releasing birds to crap everywhere including in the cafeteria but if you shut down school to protest a local social issue you are a loser who is abandoning your post and should be penalized? I don’t follow your reasoning

Yes it is. Troll someone else snowflake.

“Superintendent Tim Dittberner confirmed the closure in a Twitter post, declaring it a Digital Learning Day…
The decision to call off school was made around 8 a.m.. Friday was supposted to be the last regular class day of the year, with finals set to begin Monday.”

The cost of all those “Digital Learning Days” in journalism school?
    “Supposted” and “8 a.m..”

Amen brother. Not to mention, the kids in forest lake actually made a difference. Now a city gets to keep their PD and all those cops aren’t unemployed.

“I think the people spoke,” resident Matt Arntzen, who’s been a St. Paul police officer for 16 years, said after Monday’s vote. “The tipping point was the kids walking out of school. That spoke volumes.”

If we start commending high school students on walking out of classrooms on local business issues, you do realize then everytime a Starbucks shuts down, a dollar menu item is removed, emoji changed, or 4G coverage is slow we are gonna have empty seats in math class???

I disagree. What is being commended is that kids get involved and think and act for themselves. The kids in forest lake made a difference and they know it. They get to take that with them for the rest of their lives and I guarantee that lesson will be far more valuable to them then whatever they might have learned in math class that day. Kids aren’t dumb automatons. A far worse and more dangerous lesson would be to encourage them to NOT participate in an issue that was important to them but rather sit on their hands because that’s the “proper, polite” thing to do. If my kid skips school for a BS reason like an emoji changing they are getting reprimanded. If they stage a walkout cause they believe strongly in a social issue and they want to get involved and they are certain this is the best way to do it then I am fine with that. If I can teach my son anything before my time is done it will be to “be yourself and think for yourself”.

and we thought putting ducks above the false ceiling for a weekend in high school would draw attention!!
well,it would of if the dead skunk in the library didnt beat us to it.

they had to place food in an open corner to draw the five ducks out of the ceiling, that only took three days, but the skunk smell?whew!!
that was thirty six years ago,bet the smell is still there.

note: aint going back to find out either.

We need to be honest with ourselves here. Maybe 20% of the kids that walked out did so to support the Police Department. The rest just wanted a day off.

crappie, crappie , crappie, kids in high school aren’t that smart. They are like parrots, they mimic, they mimic what their teachers and parents tell them. They haven’t enough life experience to understand.
Back in the day we would protest when they changed the catsup from Hunts to Heinz, anything to get out of class and hang out with the chicks.

This thread is what happens when the weather sucks.

We got about 5000 crickets and let them go in the main study hall. They didn’t move so it was kinda lame.

in the ten years I was in high school,( just kidding ) I got to witness three farmhand silage wagons taken apart and reassembled in the court yard, understand, the court yard was only accessible through a standard double door surrounded by the four walls in the center of the school, the wagons were not small and the court yard was.

sixty some tires stacked over the flagpole,( with respect, the flag was removed first ).
someone took a dump on the principals desk, ( sic )
cherry bombs in the toilets on senior day,no one was hurt, doors were locked to prevent access.

the ducks and skunk already mentioned.
we had helium and acetylene/oxygen in the welding shop along with fifty gallon garbage bags,a short piece of cannon fuse, you figure out the rest.

the worst one I personally witnessed was when a pair of coveralls was stuffed with straw, placed on a creeper and shoved under a car that was ‘dropped off of a jack ‘
the first time in my life I witnessed a person suffer an adrenaline rush to the point he picked up by himself the entire ass end of a 69 camaro off of the ground to shoulder height to free the ‘trapped’ student,he did this three times all of the while we were trying to convince him it was a joke.

to this day,I have never seen anyone sweat like that or the look of pure horror on his face.
that poor teacher ( Lloyd Smith ) took a week off to recuperate from it.

remember kids, its all fun and games until someone gets an eye put out or gets pregnant.

the “kids” in Forest Lake were “used” for an agenda, not theirs either. blinders off. how someone could compare that to pigeons being released by more than likely, these same “hero students” is beyond me.
