Hi all. I am looking to purchase a really nice 7 foot ultra light rod and a 7 foot light action rod. Both spinning rods. What are your recommendations?

The rod you want to look at is at the bottom of the menu stack.

I also have some of the TS tourney specials that are a good bang for the buck.I think in that model you could go with the UL they seem to run a little stiffer than some rods.
I know they are ONLY 50-70 bucks so they must be junk but they are not.April 5, 2025 at 7:57 pm #2328573JT panhandler for 7′ light
Excellent rod, also works for finicky walleyes

X2 I own the 8’ 2 piece. Put a Daiwa Exceler LT on it. Just spooled it up yesterday and heading out in about a hour. Borrowed a buddies last year to fish perch and loved it so much I had to buy myself one.

I cast a lot of slip floats and the string knots just don’t like those dainty little guides. Whoever came up with that idea should get a lobotomy.
On my two St. Croix panfish specials and the new Scheels rod I have pulled the concepts off and put #6 high frames in their place so casting isn’t impaired by the tiny guide holes. The high frames pretty much match the first three or maybe four guides that come on rods today.
On casting rods they don’t seem to cause any issues since the line is basically running down the pipe and off the tip, but put anything on the line that will get reeled up past the first few guides, like a stop knot, and misery isn’t far behind.

Most rods with “fast” tips are closer to a Light action than UltraLight, only because buyers typically “think” they want a fast action tip because they heard it somewhere
I prefer my HMG over my St. Croix Panfish by far.April 7, 2025 at 6:37 am #2328675After buying a 7ft light st croix I hardly ever touch my ul now. Something about that light rod that I prefer over the ul.

I have 3 6’6″ SC Avid in the lite. Love them. I’ve tried the same in UL and 7′ UL and just not for me.
I mostly pitch 1/32 oz plastics for crappies on a braid.
