Hi all. I am looking to purchase a really nice 7 foot ultra light rod and a 7 foot light action rod. Both spinning rods. What are your recommendations?

I’ve loved my UL from Tuned Up Custom Rods. One of their best open water rods.

I know i may get crucified on here because it’s not everybodies favorite place to shop but here goes.I just bought a BP microlite for panfishing.I have not used it yet but seems like a nice rod.It is a 7’ML,the actions on these seem a little lite so i moved up from a light action.
I also have some of the TS tourney specials that are a good bang for the buck.I think in that model you could go with the UL they seem to run a little stiffer than some rods.
I know they are ONLY 50-70 bucks so they must be junk but they are not.

I like the Bass Pro panfish elite. I have several models and like them very much. I team them with a Quantum throttle 20 spinning real. On sale total about $110.00.

X2 I own the 8’ 2 piece. Put a Daiwa Exceler LT on it. Just spooled it up yesterday and heading out in about a hour. Borrowed a buddies last year to fish perch and loved it so much I had to buy myself one.

How many have noticed that in the last few years a guy cannot buy a quality spinning rod without having to suffer those dinky, crap, concept guides? I cast a lot of slip floats and the string knots just don’t like those dainty little guides. Whoever came up with that idea should get a lobotomy.

On my two St. Croix panfish specials and the new Scheels rod I have pulled the concepts off and put #6 high frames in their place so casting isn’t impaired by the tiny guide holes. The high frames pretty much match the first three or maybe four guides that come on rods today.

On casting rods they don’t seem to cause any issues since the line is basically running down the pipe and off the tip, but put anything on the line that will get reeled up past the first few guides, like a stop knot, and misery isn’t far behind.

The Fenwick HMG UL is the perfect UltraLight rod. The tip is moderate fast, which is what is needed in an UL rod. Most rods with “fast” tips are closer to a Light action than UltraLight, only because buyers typically “think” they want a fast action tip because they heard it somewhere roll
I prefer my HMG over my St. Croix Panfish by far.

I like my HMG as well!
I’ve also been impressed with the ACC Crappie stick’s that I have.

After buying a 7ft light st croix I hardly ever touch my ul now. Something about that light rod that I prefer over the ul.

I have 3 6’6″ SC Avid in the lite. Love them. I’ve tried the same in UL and 7′ UL and just not for me.
I mostly pitch 1/32 oz plastics for crappies on a braid.
