new study confirms that permethrin helps to thwart ticks. I have a bottle of the stuff you use to treat clothing but I haven’t used it yet. ive heard of the clothing you can buy that are already chemically treated. may look into getting some of those as aside from this study ive read from others that it really seems to help. Anything we can do to keep those bas****ds at bay is good by me. Cant stand those things

Never bothered me much. Haven’t had em make it to the boys yet either though so that opinion may change.

I know a guy here in town that contracted Lyme’s Disease and they didn’t diagnose it right away. He’s a mess, it’s really tragic. If you can avoid or discourage the little monsters it’s well worth it.

You can spray it on your dogs too.

Ticks freak me out. We do a portage trip in Canada every year, and I think the record was 11 on one guy in one day! I’ve used that Permethrin a few times now and I really like it. I just do one set of long-sleeved shirt, pants, and socks each year, and wear those whenever I’m worried.

I used the Sawyer brand last year and worked really good. I sprayed shirt pants socks hat and boots no problem with ticks good for 6 washings.

I use permethrin quite a bit, buy it in concentrate at Tractor Supply and get a couple years worth for the price of one of the tiny premixed bottles at a sporting goods store. I mix according to the directions, wear gloves and spray my garage and basement which takes care of spiders and other pests. For fly fishing I spray a long sleeve shirt and my vest so anything that climbs up my waders gets blocked. I’ve found dead ticks on the sprayed items several time and haven’t had one get up to my neck in years. That used to be a regular occurrence. The last straw for me was when my kid and I got to our spot and I had 4 on me and he had 13(!) on him. None of them were embedded but that doesn’t keep you from feeling phantom ticks the rest of the day. No fun. In the fall my hunting pants and coat get a dose.

I’ll respray the vest/coat if I’m out in the rain and do the shirt/pants after a few washings.

Yes, it works. I use Sawyers and it has done well. I’ve had the bullseye and not looking to get close to it again.
